Take a virtual walk on the streets of Budapest from your couch!
Curfew restrictions have been in place for two months now, so it is understandable that people miss their normal lives. The Hungarian telecommunications company, Telekom, has decided to take us on an unusual 24-hour virtual walk in the capital as part of a full-day, non-stop Slow TV broadcast.
Although coronavirus restrictions were eased in the countryside, the quiet, empty streets of Budapest and Pest County have not yet been replaced by the familiar bustle. The Hungarian capital has been chosen as the best tourist destination in the world several times. Nowadays, the city shows its unusual but still captivating side with its almost uninhabited streets and squares. Telekom Slow TV presents this new face of Budapest in a 24-hour program from the perspective of a pedestrian, Szeretlek Magyarország wrote.
The Slow TV genre was developed by the Norwegian public service broadcaster, NRK, and it is becoming more and more popular in the world. Telekom’s new production allows people to walk together around the quiet city of Budapest from the downtown streets to the Buda Castle, from the Citadel to the Kopaszi-gát, or from Normafa to Gellért Hill.

The broadcast was created within the framework of #digitálisösszefogás (#digitalcollaboration), and it debuted on Telekom’s YouTube channel. #Digitálisösszefogás is a Hungarian initiative that was launched to help people overcome the coronavirus crisis.
